How to order and install Windows OS

On what servers is it possible to install Windows Server?​

Windows can be installed on both dedicated and virtual servers (the WHS plan).

In the case of virtual servers, the Windows OS is only available for the WHS VPS plans. These plans are designed to be used with the Windows OS only.

The WHS plan rates include the Windows OS rental fee.

What versions of Windows Servers can I install?​

There are two rental options for dedicated servers:

  • Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition
  • Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Edition

What Windows Server license type do you provide?​

We provide licenses for Windows Server 2022 Standard and Datacenter Edition.

These licenses are covered by the SPLA licensing program. This license permits installing the OS using only the Data Center's images. Activation and installation proceed immediately. The Windows OS is installed automatically using the Data Center's images. Once it is installed, the Windows license is linked to the server. The license fee is added to the server rental fee, and they are paid together.

Neither the Data Center nor Microsoft provides technical support for the Windows OS.

Administrator access is provided for the OS. We do not administrate Windows. Customers perform all settings, data migrations, etc., on their own.

Is it possible to install Windows Server on additional HDD disks of a server?​

Windows Server is installed automatically on the server's main hard drives.

The installation on the additional HDD drives is made on request.

How can I order Windows Server for a new server?​

To install Windows, specify it in the OS list when ordering a server. The installation fee as well as the first month's rental fee will be included in the server price.

How can I order Windows Server for an activated server?​

Submit a request to the customer care department. Our team will issue an invoice for the license rent and Windows installation fees. Once the invoice is paid, you will need to confirm that you agree to lose all your data on the server and schedule the time for the Windows installation.

How can I stop using Windows Server?​

If you refuse from using Windows, please submit a corresponding ticket. If a customer refuses from using Windows after the DC invoice for the license extension has been issued, the customer has to pay the Windows rental fee anyway.

Installing another OS instead of Windows on the server does not deactivate the license automatically. The license can be deactivated by the customer care department only and at the client's request. If the customer doesn't submit a ticket for license deactivation, the license will still be linked to the server, and the customer will still be charged for the rent.

Is the Windows Server license suspended for the period of server maintenance?​

Yes, the Windows license is suspended until the maintenance is over. Once the maintenance is over, the license has to be reactivated. To do it, submit a ticket for reactivation.

Does DC monitor when the license is used?​

The Data Center does not monitor your license activity. If the customer has not used the license and has not deactivated it, the rental fee is not refunded.
