Migration from one dedicated server to another

How can I perform the migration myself?

To transfer data from one dedicated server plan to a new one, take the following steps.

  1. Choose your server and additional services. If necessary, submit a ticket to the customer care department. Our specialists will help you choose the most suitable plan.

  2. Order a new server: open the Place an Order section -> choose the server's configuration -> make a comment that you need this server to migrate from another dedicated server. Once you place the order, an invoice will be issued automatically.

  3. Pay the invoice for the installation and the first month's rental fees and wait until the server is activated.

    Important!

Your new server will have a new IP address. You will not be able to keep additional IP addresses. If you need additional IPs, you will have to order them separately.

  4. Once your new server is activated, you are free to start data migration from your source server.

  5. Once your data is migrated, submit a request to turn the source server off.

    Important!

If the rental period of your old server ends in less than 30 days, the prepaid fee is not refunded.

How can I order data migration services?

  1. Please submit a ticket specifying the source and target server. We will place your order and issue an invoice for the new server and migration services.

  2. Pay the invoice.

  3. Once the invoice is paid, you can schedule the installation at any time that suits you (including nighttime and weekends).

  4. Since your new server will have a new IP address, please let us know if you use any software that depends on specific IP addresses. Ensure you change your IP address in the software licenses you purchased from a third party. The IP in the control panel license will be changed by our specialists.

  5. Once the migration process is launched, your old server will be shut down.

  6. The data migration process may take up to 72 hours. It depends on the number of files and session files. In general, 12 hours are enough to complete the process. Please be prepared for a downtime and inform your users about it as well. Unfortunately, delays are possible, please be patient.

    Important!

If the rental period of your old server ends in less than 30 days, the prepaid fee is not refunded.

What happens after the migration?

  • You should update your DNS A records by yourself.
  • Once the migration is over, you will not be able to run websites in your old VPS. This may cause data corruption.
  • We will need time to reconfigure your software with new IP addresses. This takes from 3 to 4 hours.
  • You should specify in the ticket that you are abandoning the old server.
