RustDesk

Description

RustDesk is an alternative to popular remote desktop applications such as TeamViewer or AnyDesk. It offers many of the same basic features, but with the additional bonus of free usage and cross-platform compatibility. It is available as an installable file or as a portable program. It serves as both client and server, so there is no need to use any other third-party applications.

Getting started

RustDesk is installed with the image and is automatically enabled when the server boots.

To get started, you will need to download and install the client application. You can download applications for different OS and devices from the official website.

Once installed, it needs to be configured.

Configuration is required to be performed on all devices where you plan to use RustDesk!

In the application, click on the menu button to the right of the ID to open the settings menu. Next, in the Network menu you should see the following menu:

You will need to fill in the Server ID and Key fields.

You can get the data from the welcome message after you log in via SSH to your server. The data should look as follows:

RustDesk configuration:

ID Server: SERVERS_HOSTNAME

Key: KEY

You can connect to the server via SSH:

  • With an SSH key, if this option is enabled before a server is created
  • With the root user password sent by mail when server is activated
